Parenting styles are passe. The cultural studies of parenting that took place from the 1950s through the 1980s are not constants. Cultural values and accepted norms are always evolving. Rather, better understanding through research in epigenetics and in twin studies tell us that inborn temperament is the consistent factor of people in their culture. Parents raise their children according their inborn temperament, not according to cultural values.
