Formulate Your Coaching Procedures

Do you have a plan for coaching procedures for your business? The most efficient ways to deliver new business strategies and increase your coaching income are the goals for this blog course.

Your clients would have read your free blog articles, perhaps participated in a group program, or enjoyed an online course. They know you and recognize your work. They know your value, and they’ll be more than willing to pay for continued access to you. Moreover, your business experiences make you the perfect person to work with other emerging, talented business women. Your next step is to formalize the coaching package and make it available for sale.

The real value of private coaching is the influence you have and the impact you make on the lives of those you coach.
With group coaching or self-study programs, it’s difficult to know how many people are putting your expertise to work for them.

In a private coaching program, you’ll be connecting with clients one-on-one, and you’ll see what’s providing the most useful results.
Private coaching offers a highly rewarding relationship for both you and your customers.

STEP ONE –>

“Get Clear on the Problem You Solve”

As with every aspect of your business, your private coaching package must be highly targeted to be successful. You cannot just hang out your virtual shingle, call yourself a coach, and expect clients to line up for an appointment. Rather, to position yourself as the expert you are, become crystal clear on exactly:

• WHAT you do
• WHO you do it for
• HOW you want to do it
• WHICH emotional results and tangible changes can you offer and guarantee.

When you can articulate the exact problems, you solve and who you work with, it will be much easier to find your tribe and attract buyers for your program. For example, business coaches might focus on solving:

• Money mindset issues for women entrepreneurs
• Brand development for health and wellness coaches
• Marketing help for information product sellers
• Outsourcing problems for online businesses
• Life coaches solve different issues.
• Dating coaches have their particular area of expertise. Executive coaches focus on C-level employees.

You have your sweet spot, too, and it’s probably easy to identify.

Specialized Niche: You already know your general area of expertise, whether it’s business, life, health, finance, parenting or personal growth.

Target Client Persona: Now think about who your favorite clients are. And if you don’t yet have clients, think about those you’ve helped in the past in any way—even if it’s through email or on social media.

• With whom did you most enjoy working?
• What problems were you happiest to solve?
• Which issues (and people) left you feeling frustrated and stressed out?
• Those questions belong in your coaching package.
• Who are your tribe members?These are the people for whom you’re building your 1:1 package.

Next, consider what this client’s biggest issue is. It’s your ideal client’s most pressing problem, the one she most needs to solve, and the one she will gladly pay to fix. Maybe her blog doesn’t get enough traffic. Perhaps her online dating profiles aren’t attracting her dream man. Or maybe her finances are out of control. Whatever the problem is, you have the answer and can help her find her answer. When you can craft a coaching package that gets results for your ideal client, you’ll have a winning program. People will line up to enroll.

EXERCISE: DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL CLIENT

If you haven’t already done this exercise, spend some time defining your ideal customer. This exercise finalizes the coaching procedures you will put in place for automation. Explain everything you know about her, including her experience level, her dreams, her family life, her frustrations, her income, and anything else that will set her apart from millions of other potential clients. (Use additional sheets if needed.)

EXERCISE: STATE HER BIGGEST PROBLEM

Now that you’ve identified who your client is, the next steps are:

• Define her big issue concisely as possible, like
• Struggles with self-esteem
• Lacks confidence
• Struggles to lose weight
• Desires to explore relations

 

Feel Unworthy of Being a Paid Parenting Coach? How to Improve Low Self Worth!


In interviewing Elizabeth about being a parenting coach, she asked, “But who would listen to me? What if I can’t connect to a client?”

Her questions were valid, and they also revealed low self-worth. This thinking could keep Elizabeth from achieving important goals and becoming all that she desired to be.

  • Do you feel that you’re not good enough for people to pay you?
  • Do you underestimate that your insight could have a positive influence on others?
  • Have self-worth issues affected your friendships or personal relationships?

From Childhood

Many of our unworthy feelings might come from what we experienced in childhood or from negative life experiences as an adult. Have you dealt with low esteem at some point in your life? Or have low self-worth issues affected your choices? Upset your relationships? Then to improve your self-worth and gain confidence as a parent coach or a family consultant, try these three steps.

Step Out: Visit with a friend, who is also a parent, and ask his or her permission to speak up. Tihs is your practice session:

  • “I’ve observed Ian’s behavior, and I have a suggestion to increase your results in getting him to sleep. Does that work for you?”
  • “I’d like to suggest that…”
  • “Can I practice coaching you as a parent…”

How much is an in-depth coaching session worth to you?

You Can Change

Why do you feel you don’t deserve a fair price for your work efforts? You can change that mindset. You can overcome your doubt. One way is to create new habits like these, for instance:

  1. Practice offering suggestions to friends several times a week. They key is to ask their permission or to ask how you can help?
  2. You can mentally reprogram those negative voices with positive ones so that you feel worthy of earning and gaining wealth.

Don’t I Have To Be an Expert?

When Elizabeth asked this question, she explained that she felt a lack of coaching experience. This problem is common for many of us until we get our feet wet.

Like Elizabeth, we have to remember which urgent feeling inside led to the place of wanting to build a business. The typical answer is that we are here to help others, provide connection and communication that serves the higher good.

Over time, Elizabeth felt assured that her listening skills would carry the coach-client conversation until she thought to add her two cents. And she was a patient listener, who learned to speak up and ask more question,s when she felt the client needed insight. At last, she had moved beyond feeling unworthy and needing to prove herself.

Sometimes, like Elizabeth, an entrepreneurial coach has a desire to learn and a passion for helping. Being honest with people who seek advice is another virtue that entrepreneurs need to cultivate, rather than advise or guess at answers. Or, offer to find solutions, which is how Linda grew in her confidence.

Grow Into Your Confidence

We want to feel good about ourselves. When we are confident, we feel better emotionally and mentally, and this reflects positively on our behaviors and improves our quality of life, from personal relationships to our professional endeavors.

Thus, whatever helps boost our self-confidence is good for us. One of the best ways to do this is by exercising regularly. Exercise is not only good for self-assurance but has excellent health benefits.

So how can exercise boost self-confidence? Try these steps, perhaps one every other day, to have a new experience of confidence.

A Step in Building Your Self Confidence

Your confidence is the accumulation of all your reactions to the experiences that life brought you. Many factors contribute to the personal understanding of confidence.

One determining influence is how right are the circumstances of your life. Do you tend to fall into the trap of creating unrealistic expectations? In the process, the losses could become too painful, and you eventually suffer the effects of lower self-confidence. 

On the other hand, if you rely more on playing safe and creating more achievable goals that are easier to attain, then you act with confidence.  Also, achievements add to the development of self-confidence.

People, especially those with low self-worth like Elizabeth,  benefit from knowing that they are somehow capable of doing well. They should strive to gain the confidence. 

You may already have heard the phrase, “It is all in your mind.” The statement is true for some psychological and emotional conditions that have mental roots. Thus, the antidote might as well come from the same source.

You can always condition yourself to feel the way you want or to feel the way you don’t want. You can suppress emotions, and in the process, you help feelings materialize. To deepen your confidence, watching your thoughts and the words you say are how you grow in awareness. What you speak are not mere words, but concepts that dug deep within and integrated into your being. If you believe in these phrases, then there is no way that you won’t understand their direct opposite expressions. 

Central to building self-confidence is one’s belief about self, much like Elizabeth’s honest statements. Whatever you set your mind to believe will all be taken as factual. The motivation to change must come from you.  You start with talking to yourself using positive statements. Self-talk research shows that you do not have to believe in such statements. However, saying, thinking, or reading the statements do sink in and have a positive effect. 

 You, the confident, can change your perspectives and live a different life that looks forward to better things.

Get Real! Is Money Your Blind Spot?

 Are you the type of personality who admits that you might have a blind spot when it comes to money?  Don’t ignore this topic, as it could could cost you clients and more income!

Bias or blind spots prevent you from seeing income issues clearly, so your potentially biggest money issue is one you don’t even see.

The signs and symptoms that you have a blind spot are…

1. You don’t seem to make any progress.  For example, if you are always short of money, want to work on it, then you just work harder. The effort does not equal the return, and you cannot see that your effort garners zilch.

2. You want to understand why.  You attend seminars, take classes, and read about why you have issues with money. You follow instructions, write out the steps and have all the best intentions. Yet, taking action seems overwhelming.

3. Your intuitive sense nags at you. You absolutely know that something is amiss. So you search, read, journal, trying to be self-aware and discover the block insider of you. Unfortunately, blind spots are patterns you cannot see. Dig as you may, your cognition is programmed to looks everywhere, but you will not see it. This is why people help with the “identification” process first. Then do the inner work to move through it.

4. You tell people that you know the answer or tell a white lie about it. You don’t want to lose face in front of friends. You attended the seminar and you read the book, and the energy of the group uplifted you. EUREKA! You got a glimpse of the blind spot. Now you know. In your innocence, you believe that knowing the blind spot will change that pattern burned into your memory. Unfortunately, that won’t happen.

5. You defend yourself.  If you find yourself defending your income or money issues, ask yourself why. Why you have to defend against it brings to the surface the emotional patterns associated with money for you.  Your emotional patterns are not the events of the everyday world like your client didn’t pay you yet, or you are transferring money from one account to another. Your defensive behavior is often an illogical excuse like “How can she mortgage her house for that program.” Or “I wouldn’t take money from my family for me?”

6.You really value what you defend! You must value money very highly if you defend it. What it represents for you would safety, security, creativity, success, and….you actually value it very highly, but don’t realize how important money is to you personally and professionally. Th blind spot is below the awareness level is you are reacting to it. Voila! This is the answer to the blind spot question: what am I defending? why do I need to defend it? What do I value so highly that I defend it?

Please don’t ignore the blind spot issues. Being aware and noticing…granting self-permission to see and know…even saying, I am willing to see…brings unstoppable confidence and earning capacity!

3. Who Is A Certified Parent Coach?

 A Parent Coach Is

Like a mentor who wears different hats – advocate, teacher, listener, questioner. Yet, the certified parent coach has a primary role  as supporter and connector for parents who want assistance, help, expertise, empowerment, or confidence. The mottos of the Academy for Coaching Parents International also serve as the first two goals of parenting coaching

  1. to empower and sustain loving relationships

     2. to make a difference.

The first thing a coach does is establish a mutual respectful relationship with the client, who may be a parent, grandparent, caregiver or anyone who has hired a coach to help them better parent or serve as a more effective guardian or caregiver to children.

Parent coaches assist, help, inform, inspire, and educate.

They provide clarity, reflection, and reality checks for parental illusion, and support a parent’s intuition.

They are responsive and responsible as they provide frameworks and structures for conversations around sensitive issues.

A parent coach may serve as a coach for a parent’s personal confidence or is involved with family relationships and parent/child issues.  A parent coach is a mentor, not a doctor, therapist, or counselor.  A certified parenting coach is a friendly or warm-hearted person a parent can call with everyday problems.  A coach provides encouragement and expertise, coaching and challenges.

Thriving As A Person And A Coach

Most of those who go into fields like coaching and psychology understand that to be a successful person, you have to have success in your personal life as well as business.  Success is not always about money, but also about finding a balance between family and business.

When you work out of your house, if you don’t set perimeters around your business life, your work can take over your home and family life. Whether you are single and childless or married with children, carve out a personal life for yourself beyond coaching in order to have a life of balance and joy. If you overload yourself, you will not get satisfaction from either one.

Do you want your life to look like this?

You’re going to your son’s soccer game at four, but you need to be home by five-thirty to take a client call, so you have to arrange for your son’s ride home. You can’t concentrate on the soccer game anyway because you need to prepare for your client’s call. You have a splitting headache because you feel torn between the game and your client. Later, your family goes out to supper because there’s not enough time to cook. After dinner, you go grocery shopping.  BY nine p.m., you are exhausted.

You actually hate driving up to your own house because it is like driving up to a pile of unfinished work – home is never a place to relax anymore. You are not making much money because you are going out to restaurants and hiring babysitters all the time. You took up coaching because it was work you could do at home when your kids were little, but instead you are constantly yelling at them to leave you alone, be quiet while you’re on the phone, and stay away from your room. Your spouse is upset and puzzled by your constant irritability.

That doesn’t sound like much fun does it? It can be someone’s reality and it is the number one reason why home businesses can fail. So don’t let it become your reality. Let’s devise a better vision!

You love working at home from the convenience of your home office, which is really a comfortable den, but one corner is yours and holds your computer, your dedicated business line, and your desk. You keep pictures, candles, music CDs and plants around your corner to feed your comfort.

You schedule your client calls at one time during the day for a four-hour block of time when the kids are in school, with dad, in day care, or otherwise occupied. You hold this time sacred so that you can be present with your clients. They pay you $100 per hour for your time, and you believe in service: listening, suggesting, confronting, sensing. You are finally being paid for doing what you love: networking, talking, sharing heart, educating and helping people lead better lives.

You love people, and people love you. This shows up in the mutual respect you and your clients have for each other and in client referrals. You have more clients than you schedule, and put their names on a waiting list. The waiting list represents clients who would wait for the time to see you, but you are content right now. You have the income you desire and the time you want to be with yourself and your family.

You will grow your business when you are ready!

Put A Fence Around Your Personal Life

Before you take your first client, you have to design the perimeters of your business. There are practical steps that will put boundaries between your personal life your business.

  • First, have a separate phone line for your busine
  • Second, make a separate room in your house for your busine Your room should be relatively soundproof and away from the family living area.
  • If possible, enclose your space and have a door you can shut. That closed door will be a signal to your family not to interrupt you.

Some people have solved the “home business” problem by building a workspace that is on their property but separate from their residence. Charles Schultz, creator of the Charley Brown cartoons, used to walk about twenty feet from his home to his studio every day.  There are homes with separate guesthouses or “Mother-in-law” quarters that convert into great home offices, provide the privacy, and give the atmosphere needed for work.

Some people simply cannot work at home because of all the interruptions.  In this case, it may be best to rent office space. Many coaches rent office space for only a few hours a week to accommodate clients who prefer meeting in person. Or, you may be a coach who provides in-home visits, or you may work from phone calls only.

Imagine Your Future and Build Your Brand To Get There

I went against the advice of my mentors. As a  family coach or parenting consultant, you build your brand by deciding who you want to be as a business person. Can you envision the person you will be in the future and make that your goal, while following your own heart?

In the process of developing a personal brand, most entrepreneurs set goals around time, or earnings, or marketing methods. Their profile or persona is the first step.

Step One

Decide who you want to be. When I founded the Academy for Coaching Parents International, both of my mentors told me up front to hire an assistant to handle email, answer queries, and keep up with the enrolled students. They explained the purpose for this was to give me a lot of free time. Wow! The advice was not what I expected.

 In deciding who I wanted to be, I chose this description: A professional mentor with heart, who supports ACPI students through compassionate guidance and coaching to succeed in their business goals in becoming a certified parenting coach. Not only am I personally involved in my business, but I also answer phone calls, emails, and make personal queries to each student and support them through weekly phone calls.

When you build your brand, the best choice is to be yourself. There is only one, unique you, and the vision of who you are in business refers to who you want to be in the future.

  • Where do you want to live?
  • How do you see yourself?
  • What do you see yourself doing?
  • What are your goals?

Step Two

Dream about different futures to choose from the possibilities.  Try on potentialities to see which ones fit best. It’s a necessary process. Decide through the dreaming to build your brand that’s right for you and take affirmative steps to turn that dream into reality. The process involves a certain amount of decisionmaking, some mental toughness and the ability to look at your goals realistically.

  • You see, there is a difference between a dream and a goal.
  • The dream is tentative. The goal is firm.
  • The dream is a possibility. The goal should be a probability.
  • The dream is subject to change. The goal is not.

These are important differences. They are also differences that many people don’t recognize or, even worse, choose to ignore. Take a cold, hard look at the dream that you’ve selected to be your goal. Look at the ins and outs. Don’t avoid looking at the bad. If you don’t weigh the good points against the bad, you’re going to be in for either a rude awakening when you reach your goal or disappointment when you don’t.

Step Three

When you set firm goals as the final step, you have accomplished the first three steps to build your brand.

  1. Envision possibilities or your role or who you will be as a business owner.
  2. Choose your persona and write it out for reference when you lose focus.
  3. Accept that you are the brand and build your brand products and services on that foundation.

The confidence of knowing where you’re going translates into personal stability. Your personal security, in turn, translates into higher acceptance of your brand over time. When your customers trust you, they also believe in your brand. After all, you are your brand.
