The answer is to specify and encourage skills for the specific temperament types and blends of people dedicated to serving and helping others. The roles that each temperament type might look very different. 

For example, what each temperament type might offer is not so black and white, as much as, it depends on the preferences of the blended temperaments and motivation. For example,

Rather than teaching, coaching is akin to guiding, checking in with questions and reviewing progress toward goals or outcomes on a set schedule. The coach has graduated from a course or training that signifies expertise in the coaching model. 

Consulting, on the other hand, involves giving advice. Also, the one giving advice is an astute expert in a particular field. A Professional Parenting Consultant, for example, demonstrates knowledge and solutions for advising in a specific area: for example; sleep, tantrums, school performance, adolescents, or babies.

Managing a toddler’s tantrums
Helping a five-year-old learn to focus and complete a task. 
Helping a school-age child learn discipline through study skills, play skills, or focusing skills. 

A Certified Professional Parenting Coach might ask more questions about the situation: 

What is the bedtime routine?
What instructions, if any, does the parent give the child? 
How strictly is the child monitored, depending on the child’s age?
What schedule has the parent set for the child? 
What resistance or behavior does the child exhibit?
What role is more comfortable for you? 

The bottom line about training in coaching or consulting is best determined by idetifying your temperament and motivation

"Get Clear on the Problem You Solve"

As with every aspect of your business, your private coaching package must be highly targeted to be successful. You cannot just hang out your virtual shingle, call yourself a coach, and expect clients to line up for an appointment. Rather, to position yourself as the expert you are, become crystal clear on exactly:

• WHAT you do
• WHO you do it for
• HOW you want to do it
• WHICH emotional results and tangible changes can you offer and guarantee.

When you can articulate the exact problems, you solve and who you work with, it will be much easier to find your tribe and attract buyers for your program. For example, business coaches might focus on solving:

• Money mindset issues for women entrepreneurs
• Brand development for health and wellness coaches
• Marketing help for information product sellers
• Outsourcing problems for online businesses
• Life coaches solve different issues.
• Dating coaches have their particular area of expertise. Executive coaches focus on C-level employees.

You have your sweet spot, too, and it’s probably easy to identify.

Specialized Niche: You already know your general area of expertise, whether it's business, life, health, finance, parenting or personal growth.

Target Client Persona: Now think about who your favorite clients are. And if you don’t yet have clients, think about those you’ve helped in the past in any way—even if it’s through email or on social media.

• With whom did you most enjoy working?
• What problems were you happiest to solve?
• Which issues (and people) left you feeling frustrated and stressed out?
• Those questions belong in your coaching package.
• Who are your tribe members?These are the people for whom you're building your 1:1 package.

Next, consider what this client's biggest issue is. It's your ideal client's most pressing problem, the one she most needs to solve, and the one she will gladly pay to fix. Maybe her blog doesn’t get enough traffic. Perhaps her online dating profiles aren’t attracting her dream man. Or maybe her finances are out of control. Whatever the problem is, you have the answer and can help her find her answer. When you can craft a coaching package that gets results for your ideal client, you'll have a winning program. People will line up to enroll.

EXERCISE: DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL CLIENT

If you haven't already done this exercise, spend some time defining your ideal customer. This exercise finalizes the coaching procedures you will put in place for automation. Explain everything you know about her, including her experience level, her dreams, her family life, her frustrations, her income, and anything else that will set her apart from millions of other potential clients. (Use additional sheets if needed.)

EXERCISE: STATE HER BIGGEST PROBLEM

Now that you've identified who your client is, the next steps are:

• Define her big issue concisely as possible, like
• Struggles with self-esteem
• Lacks confidence
• Struggles to lose weight
• Desires to explore relations

 

Where Are Your Potential Coaching Clients For Business?

Your coaching clients are out there, and they are looking for you! In my training as a therapist, counselor, and coach, I've heard this phrase often and always wondered at its veracity.

A dozen years later of online experience and building the Academy for Coaching Parents experiences, I can again state: That potential clients want you is true. Clients are out there whether you are a life coach for parents, health coach for seniors, a dating coach for men in mid-life, or a business coach for creative people.

The mindset to hold for successful coaching clients  is you have a large audience, and they are eagerly anticipating the help only you can provide.

Check the list below to see if you are missing the mark in important areas. Doing so may cause potential clients to turn away for another coach.

Make it Easy for Them

When selling your products and services online, you have to make it easy for your customers to buy. The process sounds easy, but customer connections is in how you organize the information.   You might be shocked at how often coaches (and others) miss

  • The distinct steps are clear and obvious on your web site or on other social media platforms. The days of reading content are over. Invite visitors to download a syllabus of courses, an ebooks, take a quiz, listen to a free podcast, or watch a video that tells a visitor in three minutes abut the site and provide three options to take the next step. Would they enjoy a blog article, or would they download affirmations to stay calmer?
  • The "buy" buttons are not obvious. The primary color for my websites is blue and variant shades. The buttons to link  a potential client to the next page or product should stand out - bright green, cherry red, and orange are popular colors that attract attention.
  • They don’t make contact information easy to find. This should be obvious to you while it may not be obvious on the website. Most websites have a contact page, which is obvious in the menu on top of the site.Here are a few more ideas:  At the end of each blog, have a contact form. It could also serve to sign a new client for blog traffic, as well as to contact you with any questions, no matter how small.
  • They don’t provide clear calls to action on their website. By calls to action, it means you provide instructions: click here, download this, go to the posts in children's category, review this book chapter, buy this book. In my reviews of coach's sites, I have seen a leading report on the page. A sample of content and the book cover populate a page. The button reads "Learn More." The button may lead to another page of content, a blog article, and such. The button should be much more precise: Buy this. Download the Ebook now, Read the post sample from the book, and leave a comment ti my questions: Can I email this book to you? Can you see a yes answer is more likely to be forthcoming than just learning more.
  • They don’t create easy website navigation so readers can quickly find what they need. In the ideal world, you would list the pages you wanted your clients to visit in order like first, second, third etc.. Too often web builders put the basic pages up and add them to the menu with no specific navigation instruction.

The list goes on, but the bottom line is this: make it easy for your customers to buy from you. Not only will you make more money, but your clients will be singing your praises.

Court the Potential Coaching Clients

Even if your ideal market is established as business owners, you will still create your site navigation for up and coming new clients. While they might not be ready for you yet, and they'll remember you if you treat them well and have organized-easy-to-find content and giveaways.

Some ideas for helping the new coaching clients learn to trust you and your offerings are:

  • Low-cost self-study products. Could you offer a short, free course, a video, or an audio file?
  • E-books or guides - An ebook that you give away is called a Lead Magnet - an ebook which magnetizes  a new to you? Man sure the topic is one that your clients would want to read.
  • Email courses - This is a safe bet for those who don't mind leaving their email address, because they can read what they are interested in as well as learn about you also.
  • Membership sites and forums should be your business model with new offers, products, or services at regular intervals.
  • Facebook groups can serve as memberships also,  and you have the option of making your presentations live on Facebook Live.

Get Personal

In every crowded niche, your personality is what sets you a part from every other coach out there. Don't be afraid to shine. Stand out brightly in your image, what you write and how you present your materials.  That's how your potential customers will get to know, like and trust you. You cannot stop to worry if your efforts are working. You have to assume that your efforts work, and whether you are shy, non-techie, ora private person, you must shine online and in social media if that is where you are building a business.

  • Share personal updates on social media so that potential customers can see the "real" you.
  • Post photos of your life outside of business on Instagram and Facebook.
  • Take a stand for what you believe in, whether or not it is controversial and unpopular.
  • Be available to answer questions and stay on top of the most popular social media that you use.

 

Coach Online–Marketing Tips and Ideas to Make Money Online

To make money online as a parent-family coach or an ACPI Trainer, you need to market your business online. The following marketing tips and ideas will guide your marketing efforts.

  1. When you decide who you want to work with, keep narrowing down your ideal client to a specific niche or group. Don’t send a marketing message to a general group. Specifically target the demographic you want to work with.

Narrow it down like this example:  Dads....of teens....preparing to graduate from high school....who need a Core Temperament Inventory.....to consider career choices.

2.  Talk about your business everywhere. Network with prospective clients. Give speeches at conferences. Clearly articulate your value when talking about your business in a video presentation for online viewing. 

3. Write about your business in blog posts, newsletters, magazines and newspapers. A case study presents your strengths in helping a client. You could also discuss group coaching and when and how you offer services. Sell value! Send out a press release when you add a new service or you are just starting your business.

4. Be active on social media. Participate by answering questions, providing helpful information and being authentic. Over the last three years and the changes made to social media offering, Facebook still remain primary. Facebook also bought Instagram, and placing an ad on both sites bring traffic to you and your web site. 

5. Create a professional looking website. Include your services, testimonials and an about you page as well as the home page. 

6. While I do not advocate free sessions, you will notice in reading blogs that it is a popular way to meet new possible clients. Give away a free coaching session and see which  prospective clients  go on to purchase a bigger package.

7. Build a strong client list. Keep in contact with them, asking for referrals and testimonials.

8. Send out a regular newsletter and update your blog regularly.

9. Comment on other blogs and social media channels with relevant information. These types of connections, formed through social media, are reciprocated when you support others and ask for the same. 

10. Get interviewed by a well-known person in your niche. Promote your coaching services during the interview.

11. Create YouTube videos with helpful information. Include links to your coaching services.

12. Include a link to your website on everything, including your email signature.

Marketing is a necessity in any business for making money online. It is how clients will find you.

Put Your Sales on Autopilot With this Follow-Up Sequence Summary

Once you get subscribers to your list, you need to market to them through email to build a relationship with them. The following summarized steps provide the sales funnel for coaching sequence.

Fulfilling Your Promises - Send them the content and offers that your squeeze page promised.

Keep Your Messages Relevant - Everything you send your list subscribers should be relevant to your initial offer.

Content vs. Promotions - For the most part, offer helpful content with occasional promotions thrown in.

Listen to Your List - Listen to your subscribers in order to discover what kind of content and offers they want.

Further Freebies - Keep sending your subscribers free offers periodically.

How Much Is Too Much? - Monitor email marketing stats to determine the optimal broadcast frequency.

You can map these plans on paper or create a digital mindmap or an Excel sheet to plan your follow up and put all of your message in sequence first. To truly encourage sales, you need to stay in contact with your readers through your email manager by sending periodic emails with various related offers. You can do this at each stage of your sales funnel for coaching.

Email 1: This is going to be the first email that goes out after they confirm. It should give the reader access to your free webinar, so that can be a link to the replay, or that instructions to join you for the live event. You will likely also want to include a couple of reminder emails if they event is live.

Email 2: This is the replay email for a live event, or the first follow-up if the original was a replay. In this email,  offer a few bullet points of what they learned, encouragement to watch the replay (if you can legitimately say it’s only available for the next XX days, even better), plus an offer to purchase the training program.

Email 3: A few days later, you’ll want to follow-up again. This time, consider including a case study of someone who used your training program. When combined with a great offer, reading about the results someone else achieved can be a powerful motivator.

Email 4: Use this follow-up message to remind readers that the replay is going away (if it is), and also to answer any objections. For example, you might list some FAQs or even questions you’ve received about your refund policy, who the program is for, or payment options. Remind them about the offer by having them follow a link to the sales funnel for coaching as a reminder for a sale, a giveaway, or a great blog article.

Email 5: This is your final reminder that the offer is going away soon. At this point, you may want to encourage the reader to email you with questions (if you have the systems in place to manage a lot of email, that is).

Email 6 and beyond: If your reader reaches this point without buying, then it may be that your product is just not right for her. From this point forward, you should continue to stay in contact by offering great information, case studies, tips and other interesting content, but also offer other products that might be of interest.
